A long time player in the UK club scene (recently relocated to Seattle), Francis Fink talks about how he got started and the music he loves. I was dancing, buying records and clubbing almost every night. I loved the music. When I did go to the clubs it was all about dancing. There is just something about a good beat that makes you want to move. When I first started DJing (which was almost by accident) I couldn't mix to save my life. But I discovered I had this amazing ability to throw songs together in a way that would affect some people really deeply. In order to really connect with people I have to bare my soul. I can feel this connection deep inside. I become a channel for the people out there dancing or listening, for them to transcend this physical plane and find something more. Music is really alive. It evolves constantly, and so do my tastes. I've taken to some sounds and styles more enthusiastically than others, but I never let them dominate for too long. I like to keep my options open. I play a lot of house but that's a very, very broad spectrum of music these days and I find I can drop all kinds of other styles into the mix without any problems. I love tracks that spark some kind of emotion in me. You know, when you're listening to a song in the headphones and you say "OH MY GOD!" Music that moves you, music that will work in any club, or any dance floor. It is not trance, it is not techno, it is not house, it is just ass shaking music!
